The White Buffalo

Derived from the Lakota word for “Tree of Life,” Paza symbolizes our connection to the Earth, ourselves, and all living beings. Celebrate the rich heritage of Native American culture with Lakota grass and hoop dancer and flute player Delwin Fiddler Jr. (Hehakapa Mahto - Elk Bear) of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, a descendent of Chiefs Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse. He is a world-renowned actor, storyteller, and musician, having danced at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC, performed at both the White house for two presidents and at Buckingham Palace for Britian's royal family. In this performance, Elk Bear is joined by Dr. Samora Free, who works closely with Mr. Fiddler as one of PAZA's key performers and educators. Dr. Samora comes from a multicultural background and has devoted her life’s work to bringing harmony and love to people of all beliefs and backgrounds through education, arts, and advocacy.
As the firstborn son of the Keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe, Delwin carries a profound legacy. In the theatrical production of The White Buffalo, Fiddler and Samora Free tell the origin story of how the Lakota received the Seven Rites, sacred ceremonies which not only govern traditional law and way of life for the Lakota people, but which also resonate with many rituals practiced around the world today.

On Monday, March 9, 2026 at 10 AM, as part of Kutztown University’s P.L.A.Y. series (Promoting the Love of Arts in Youth), the Paza Experience offers a free Native American cultural performance to include flute, drums, and traditional/modern songs with a full historical explanation and demonstration of the men’s and women’s traditional dances. All of Paza’s educational performances encourage audience participation.
